A Victory For Justice

The verdict of the Berlin high court of justice has clearly and unmistakably demonstrated the direct complicity of Iranian Government leaders in fostering terrorism and its trampling upon all norms of international ethics. This judgment is a major victory for justice over political and economic interests.

For eighteen long years the images coming out of my country were and still are those of horror, pain and despair. During all these years the regime has employed systematic terror against the opposition inside and outside my country. The killings of Iranians in Berlin were not the last of the regime and the assassination of intellectuals, writers, journalists and opponents still continues. It is a regime which supports and backs many different terrorist entities throughout the world. It establishes terrorist training camps as well as cells and arms and funds terrorists.

I am appalled that it took eighteen years for freedom-loving nations of the world to fathom the true nature of a regime which oppresses and coerces by force of arms the people of Iran. During all these years hundreds of foremost freedom-seeking figures of our beleaguered nation have been murdered and the killing still continues.

It is a monstrous regime which stifles the cries and moans of our people. It is a heinous dictatorship which seizes any opportunity to pierce the heart of those who dare protest. It kills them, it kidnaps writers and throws their corpses in distant fields. It imprisons and tortures all those who dare resist. For the past eighteen years we have been witness to countless murders of Iranian patriots. Their only purpose and aspiration was the freedom of our homeland. They gave their lives for that single lofty purpose with utmost courage and bravery. Their dedication to the cause will endure until Iran is freed from enslavement by this inhuman regime. Up to now industrial nations, mostly for economic reasons, have maintained a flexible approach to Teheran's regime. They have remained insensitive and failed to take any steps in support of the Iranian people in their valiant struggle for freedom. This fawning to an oppressive regime can no longer be sustained.

Now that the Berlin verdict has finally exposed the criminal hand of Teheran's dictatorship, no excuses can remain for ignoring terrorism nurtured by the regime. The tyrannized people of Iran demand from freedom-loving nations of our planet to ponder over their plight. For eighteen years they have agonized under intolerable predicaments created by the regime. The Iranian people hope that since these nations have assisted freedom movements elsewhere in the world, they will not ignore Iran this time. Let it be remembered that Iran is an ancient civilization which 2500 years ago enacted the first declaration of human rights. It is was a land which gave asylum to the Jews and which honored religious minorities and respected their rights.

Iran was at all times a haven for refugees of our world and the people of Iran welcomed them with open arms and generous hospitality. Such a people which presently endures the most cruel hardships and vicious political oppression, deserves the support of the world. In order to achieve freedom and justice, our people expect your help and assistance. By supporting the Iranian people in their just and noble cause, you can be assured to lift their moral and assist even further their valiant struggle for freedom and liberation from the shackles of an inhuman regime.
