H.I.M. Mohammad Reza Pahlavi
Architect of Modern Iran
July 27, 1997 commemorates the 18th Anniversary of the demise of the Shahanshah of Iran whose cherished aim was to bring Iran out of backwardness and into a modern, peace-loving progressive and prosperous nation. He almost succeeded and until 1979, Iran stood at the vanguard of progress in the Middle East. The Shahanshah passed away in Cairo on July 27, 1980. At that sad time Her Majesty Empress Farah Pahlavi issued the following message in Persian to her compatriots:
