In the 1970s George Gerster, the award-winning Swiss photographer, won permission by Empress Farah to fly over Iran thus capturing a land of stunning beauty and majesty through innovative photography. Unfortunately, it would take thirty years before the work could be assembled and published to critical acclaim.

Visitors from a diverse audience were thrilled to be able to view ten astonishing aerial landscape photographs exhibited for the first time by Phillips de Pury & Company. Maryam Sachs who took five years to edit Gerster's work called the book “a gift to all Persians.”

For H.M. Farah Pahlavi, Georg Gerster and Maryam Sachs this extraordinary work brought back many souvenirs of a country whose rare topography and ancient civilization continues to fascinate but which had also seemed to have been lost forever.

Londoners including members of the Iranian diaspora were thrilled to find themselves in such a relaxed yet special setting but also to be able to have their books signed by three special people whose love for Iran had reunited them after such a long time.

In the late 1970’s Swiss photographer Gerster was granted permission by Empress Farah Pahlavi
to record the Persian topography. It was a rare opportunity, resulting in vivid photographs that capture the rich Iranian landscapes
and city structures that few people outside the country have been able to experience.
