QUELQUES NOTES SUR LA VISITE DE L'IMPERATRICE EN BEARN

 

L'accueil de L'Impératrice fut absolument exceptionnel. Elle fut accueillie à l'aéroport de Pau par le Sénateur Maire, André LABARRERE. Au déjeuner, donné en son honneur à Capbis, étaient présents entre autres personnalités Monsieur François BAYROU, ancien Ministre, Député des Pyrénées Atlantiques et Président de l'UDF, Monsieur Auguste CAZALET, Sénateur des Pyrénées Atlantiques, Monsieur Alan SMITH, Président du CEPIC (Coordination of European Picture Agencies Press Stock Heritage) et son épouse, Monsieur Laurent DUBOIS, Directeur du SPP (Syndicat de la Presse Parisienne).

 Dans l'aprés-midi, Sa Majesté devait visiter une exploitation agricole typique du Béarn où elle fut accueillie par Monsieur le Maire de Louvie Juzon, ses principaux Conseillers et la famille GASSIE-POURTAU, propriétaire des lieux.

Monsieur Jean Desaunois Maire de Capbis devait ensuite recevoir l'Impératrice en Mairie. Monsieur Michel MATON, Colonel Honoraire, devait aussi remette les insignes de Chevalier dans l'Ordre National de la Légion d'Honneur à Monsieur Jean Desaunois Maire de Capbis. Après les allocutions de circonstances, Monsieur Auguste CAZALET, Sénateur, devait offrir à Sa Majesté la Médaille d'Or du Sénat. Plusieurs centaines de personnes assistaient à  la cérémonie dont de nombreux Iraniens en exil dans la région.

L'Impératrice devait terminer sa journée en Béarn par la visite à  Nay d'une galerie d'art contemporain créée par Chahab Tayefeh Mohajer, artiste peintre et sculpteur iranien de renommée internationale. Cet espace d'art, aménagé dans une ancienne minoterie, accueillait une exposition à  point nommé puisque l'exposant était le Salicien, François-Xavier FAGNIEZ, frère du Professeur de médecine qui en son temps avait pris en charge Sa Majesté le Shah d'Iran.

La presse locale, Sud Ouest, la République des Pyrénées Atlantiques et l'Eclair des Pyrénées se firent très largement l'écho de cette visite exceptionnelle. C'est en Impératrice que Sa Majesté Farah PAHLAVI a été reçue en BEARN. Le magazine Point de Vue fit aussi très largement état de cette visite qui marquera pour toujours l'histoire du petit village béarnais de Capbis.

 

A Few words on the Visit of Empress Farah to Bearn

The greeting extended to Empress Farah was absolutely exceptional. She was received received at the Airport of Pau by the Senator Mayor André LABARRERE. At the lunch, given in her honor at Capbis, the following personalities were present: M. François BAYROU, former Minister, Deputy of the Pyrénées Atlantiques and presidentof the UDF party, Mr. Auguste CAZALET, Senator of Pynées Atlantiques, Mr Alan SMITH, President of  CEPIC (Coordination of European Picture Agencies Press Stock Heritage) and wife. Atlantiques, Mr. Alan SMITH, President of CEPIC (Coordination of European Picture Agencies Press Stock Heritage) and wife, Mr. Laurent DUBOIS, Director of SPP (Syndicate of Parisian Press ).

In the afternoon, Her Majesty, visited an agriculture exploitation typical of Béarn where she was greeted by Mayor of Louvie Juzon, his counselors and the Family GASSIE-POURTAU, owner of the property.

Mr.Jean Desaunois Mayor of Capbis was then to receive the order of the Legion of Honor. from Mr. Michel MATON, Colonel Honoraire, Following a  speach Mr. Auguste CAZALET, senator, offered the Gold Medal of the Senate to the Empress. Several hundred people assisted at the ceremony notably many Iranians in exile living in the region.

The Empress was to end the day in the Béarn with a visit to Nay and a gallery of contemporary art created there by Chahab Tayefeh Mohajer, painter and artist and sculptor of international fame. This art gallery was located in an ancient flour mill and pointedly exhibited the works of a Salician, François-Xavier FAGNIEZ, whose brother was the professor of medecine who had been at one time the the physician of His Majesty the Shah of Iran.

The local press, Sud Ouest, la République des Pyrénées Atlantiques and l'Eclair des Pyrénées largely covered this exceptional visit. Her Majesty Empress Farah PAHLAVI was greeted as Empress to the BEARN. Parisian  magazine "Point de Vue" largely covered this visit which has made a landmark at the small Bé-arnaise villiage of Capbis.
