Egypt visit March 2010
Shahbanou Farah Pahlavi traveled to Cairo, Egypt from March 4 through March 8, 2010 for the launching of her “Memoirs” in Arabic.
The book has been published under the title “MOZAKKERAT” by the house of Dar El- Shorouk, one of the most prestigious publishing houses in the Arab World, established in 1968 by Mohamed El Moallem, who started his publishing career in the 1940’s, and who was a founding father of independent modern publishing in Egypt as well as the Arab World.
In the official reception held for
this event, The Shahbanou thanked the Egyptian people, the late President Anwar
Sadat, and H.E. President Hosni Mubarak especially for their warm hospitality
rendered to her late husband during a very difficult time.
While in Cairo, Her Majesty had several interviews with the Egyptian Media.
Some literary figures, politicians, diplomats and a number of Iranians attended
this ceremony. They included Mrs. Jehan Sadat, former UN Secretary General
Doctor and Mrs. Boutros Ghali, Egyptian Member of Parliament
Dr. M. Alfeghi,
Egyptian Ambassador Mr. and Mrs. Ali Maher as well as Mr. Omar Sharif, the
famous Egyptian actor.
Dr. Boutros Ghali and Mr. Ibrahim El Moallem, the publisher, made brief remarks at the ceremony and introduced the newly published book.
During this trip, Her Majesty also visited the tomb of the late Shah of Iran at the Al Rafee mosque where she laid a wreath and spent a few moments in reflection. She was greeted by several high-ranking religious figures and a number of expatriates residing in Cairo.

Empress Farah Pahlavi,
denounced conditions for Iranians under the present regime during a book
signing in Cairo on March 7, 2010. The Empress, whose memoirs "An Enduring Love:
My Life with the Shah" has now been translated
into Arabic, said the majority of people in Iran wanted change.
